About Us

Since our founding in 1979, Hecht Development has established a reputation for quality, with our team approach to business.  The Hecht Development team is a small, well-knit group of professionals with many years of experience in the Lake Norman area real estate market.

From the early years building homes in the area, to the land development business in 2002, we have put our clients first and foremost.  The key to success is identifying what our clients want and need, and fulfilling those wants and needs with home building and with our communities.

Every community starts with a clear understanding of each tract of land and its features, strengths and potential.  By combining this local knowledge with the expertise of surveyors, engineers and designers, we create well-planned neighborhoods with the features that individuals and families want for their new home.  We take a raw piece of land and create a community that fits the land, rather than utilizing heavy grading to make it fit a plan.  The neighborhood should fit the land, rather than a computer produced plan.

We offer individual building sites in our communities where you can choose your site and bring your own custom plans and your own builder and use architectural review to insure quality.  We also offer new home communities where distinctive area builders work to construct homes for sale.

The most important aspect of business is the willingness to listen; to listen to what your customers and clients want, and then to put that information to use when creating a new community.  Our mission is to create communities that mirror our client’s needs and do that in a professional and quality manner.

Bob Hecht began his real estate career in May 1971, with Bob and John Hecht forming Hecht Realty, Inc. in December 1971.  Bob's strong work ethic has grown the real estate firm to three residential offices, a commercial office, relocation and property management services.  Bob's development experience comes from small communities in the 1980's, and closely working with a major area developer during the 1990's, to handle the marketing of many Lake Norman area communities.  Since 2002, Bob has worked to develop several successful communities in the area.  Due to Bob's attention to detail and creativity, each community has been well-received for the planning efforts as well as the quality manner in which each was constructed.  The quality of each community is of utmost importance to Bob.

Tammie Kralovic has been in the real estate industry since 1989.  Before joining Century 21 Hecht in 1997, Tammie managed a local real estate office for 5 years and took the plunge into real estate sales and in a short time, became one of the top agents.  While at Century 21 Hecht, accomplishments included being the top agent for the Mooresville office from 1998-2000, top overall agent for 2000 and Six years of being a "Centurion" - the highest award in the Century 21 system for agent production.  Tammie currently  does the marketing and advertising and is expanding into video production of the subdivisions and websites.  In addition to Tammie's real estate career success, Tammie's most important role is being a mom.  Tammie brings  a sense of family to the team and helps us see the importance of family life in the communites we develop.

Nicole Hecht has completed her first year working with Hecht Development, she does have previous experience working with the different departments of Century 21 Hecht Realty. She worked as an administrative assistant to the general manager of the real estate firm, and was exposed to every facet of the business. Her role with Hecht Development includes: Architectural Review administration, multiple listing, handling sales inquiries, and maintaining the many databases. Nicole just recently completed the first issue of Finding Your Way Home, the development's firm newsletter. She received her North Carolina Provisional Broker license in 2009 and is available to help with your lot questions.

Carolyn Hopper moved to the Lake Norman area in 1984 and was hired by Bob Hecht as secretary of his Century 21 Hecht Cornelius office.  Carolyn received her real estate license in 1988 and helped develop Hecht's Relocation Department as manager from 1988 to 1997.  From 1997 to 2009, she was the bookkeeper and corporate secretary for Hecht's offices.  After almost 25 years of service, Carolyn is continuing her career with Bob at Hecht Development.  Carolyn's greatest joy is watching, with her husband of 34 years, their two girls become parents and their four adorable grandsons.
